This Simple Trick Requires Only Your Phone Number to Hack your Email Account !!

in: Brilliant Hackers cyberattck hacker news
In order to get into your email account, an attacker does not need any coding or technical skills. All an attacker needs your email address in question and your cell phone number.

Here's How the Scam Works:

Send a text from an unknown number to the victim’s phone, asking them to verify their account by replying with the verification code they are about to receive in order to ensure their Google account is secure, but in real the code is a password resets code.
  • Send another text message containing an unlock code to the registered phone.
  • The victim receives the code with a text something like this: "This is Google. There has been unauthorized activity on your account. Please reply with your verification code.
  • As soon as victim responds with the verification code, the email address is forfeited, and the attacker can log into victim’s Gmail account without detection.
  • This social engineering trick sounds so easy and requires almost no technical skills to get into anyone’s email account.

Most of us reply to the unknown phone calls and messages thinking it is from the company, as receiving messages and phone calls from companies is not something uncommon.

Always be Defensive to such Scams

Before watching the video, someone would have never thought of such a method to hack someone’s account.

Of course, the untrained mind could easily fall victim to the text asking for a response. But, asSymantec says, "Legitimate messages from password recovery services will only tell you the verification code and will not ask you to respond in any way."

The workaround is not to fall victim for such kinds of scams and always examine the messages you receive.

13 years old INDIAN teen, Shubham Banerjee working on Braille Printer with Microsoft

in: Brilliant Hackers updatenews
Shubham Banerjee

This teen was having great curiosity to find how blind people read when he was just 12 years old. And this curiosity leds to build a low cost printer with its lego game blocks. And he also found his new partner that is working in mIcrosoft that helped him to make his dreams real.
Banerjee told a Windows blogger earlier this week that “I discovered that typical Braille printers cost about $2,000 (about Rs 126,000) or even more, and I felt that was unnecessarily expensive for someone already at a disadvantage. So, I put my brain to work, and the first thing that came to mind was to create an alternative using my favorite toy.”
Banerjee failed by seven times but finally at 8th time he was successful in making this printer which costs him about 350$.“I achieved an 82% reduction in cost and have been overwhelmed by the encouraging feedback from both the sighted and the blind,” he was quoted in a blog. This big thing is that he did no kept the idea bounded to him instead he posted the method for other to make it yourself online.
And this was a revolutionary step towards these printers as the printer that cost above 2000$ can now be build at home within 350$. Now benerjee started his own company named Braigo (combined Braille and Lego) Labs, and became the youngest entrepreneur to pick up venture capital funding when Intel Capital invested in his startup, Braigo Labs.

“Also, think about the banks, the government institutions or even the libraries where Windows-based computers are widely used. They will all benefit from having a Braigo to provide accessibility services to their visually impaired customers,” added by him.

Venom Vulnerability Exposes Most Data Centers to Cyber Attacks 2015 !

in: Brilliant Hackers passwordcracking updatenews
After a new security vulnerability surfaced Wednesday, many tech outlets started comparing it with HeartBleed, the serious security glitch uncovered last year that rendered communications with many well-known web services insecure, potentially exposing Millions of plain-text passwords.

But don’t panic. Though the recent vulnerability has a more terrific name than HeartBleed, it is not going to cause as much danger as HeartBleed did.

Dubbed VENOM, stands for Virtualized Environment Neglected Operations Manipulation, is a virtual machine security flaw uncovered by security firm CrowdStrike that could expose most of the data centers to malware attacks, but in theory.
Yes, the risk of Venom vulnerability is theoretical as there is no real-time exploitation seen yet, while, on the other hand, last year’s HeartBleed bug was practically exploited by hackers unknown number of times, leading to the theft of critical personal information.

Now let’s know more about Venom:

Venom (CVE-2015-3456) resides in the virtual floppy drive code used by a several number of computer virtualization platforms that if exploited…

...could allow an attacker to escape from a guest 'virtual machine' (VM) and gain full control of the operating system hosting them, as well as any other guest VMs running on the same host machine.

According to CrowdStrike, this roughly decade-old bug was discovered in the open-source virtualization package QEMU, affecting its Virtual Floppy Disk Controller (FDC) that is being used in many modern virtualization platforms and appliances, including Xen, KVM, Oracle's VirtualBox, and the native QEMU client.

Jason Geffner, a senior security researcher at CrowdStrike who discovered the flaw, warned that the vulnerability affects all the versions of QEMU dated back to 2004, when the virtual floppy controller was introduced at the very first.

However, Geffner also added that so far, there is no known exploit that could successfully exploit the vulnerability. Venom is critical and disturbing enough to be considered a high-priority bug.

Successful exploitation of Venom required:

For successful exploitation, an attacker sitting on the guest virtual machine would need sufficient permissions to get access to the floppy disk controller I/O ports.

When considering on Linux guest machine, an attacker would need to have either root access or elevated privilege. However on Windows guest, practically anyone would have sufficient permissions to access the FDC.

However, comparing Venom with Heartbleed is something of no comparison. Where HeartBleed allowed hackers to probe Millions of systems, Venom bug simply would not be exploitable at the same scale.

Flaws like Venom are typically used in a highly targeted attack such as corporate espionage, cyber warfare or other targeted attacks of these kinds.

Did venom poison Clouds Services?

Potentially more concerning are most of the large cloud providers, including Amazon, Oracle, Citrix, and Rackspace, which rely heavily on QEMU-based virtualization are vulnerable to Venom.

However, the good news is that most of them have resolved the issue, assuring that their customers needn't worry.
"There is no risk to AWS customer data or instances," Amazon Web Services said in a statement.
Rackspace also said the flaw does affect a portion of its Cloud Servers, but assured its customers that it has "applied the appropriate patch to our infrastructure and are working with customers to remediate fully this vulnerability."

Azure cloud service by Microsoft, on the other hand, uses its homemade virtualization hypervisor technology, and, therefore, its customers are not affected by Venom bug.

Meanwhile, Google also assured that its Cloud Service Platform does not use the vulnerable software, thus was never vulnerable to Venom.

Patch Now! Prevent yourself

Both Xen and QEMU have rolled out patches for Venom. If you're running an earlier version of Xen or QEMU, upgrade and apply the patch.

Note: All versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which includes QEMU, are vulnerable to Venom. Red Hat recommend its users to update their system using the commands, "yum update" or "yum update qemu-kvm."

Once done, you must "power off" all your guests Virtual Machines for the update to take place, and then restart it to be on the safer side. But remember, only restarting without power off the guest operating system is not enough for the administrators because it would still use the old QEMU binary.

Worlds Top 5 Notorious Hackers Of All Time!!

in: Brilliant Hackers Hacking groups
There are two types of hackers. First,
you’ve got the kind that is so often
portrayed by Hollywood as an anti-social nerd with a chip on his shoulder out to dominate the cyber world by breaking into secure networks and messing things up. Second, you’ve got the kind
of people who just enjoy fiddling around with software source code and hardware gigs...
That’s right. The term “hacker” originally referred to the second type, which held absolutely no malevolent connotations. Only recently has the term been used to refer primarily to criminal masterminds.
There are good hackers and bad
hackers ! Nowadays, benevolent hackers are often called “white hats” while the more sinister are called “black hats.”
In this article, we will be talking specifically about famous hackers that don hats of black. Here are five of the most widely known black hatters and what happened
to them for their recklessness.
1. Jonathan James
Jonathan James was known as
“c0mrade” on the Internet. What is his ticket to fame? He was convicted and sent to prison for hacking in the United States–all while he was still a minor. At only fifteen years of age, he managed to hack into a number of networks, including those belonging to Bell South, Miami-Dade, the U.S. Department of
Defense, and NASA. Yes, James hacked into NASA’s network
and downloaded enough source code to learn how the International Space Station worked. The total value of the downloaded assets equaled $1.7 million.
To add insult to injury, NASA had to shut down their network for three whole weeks while they investigated the breach, which cost them $41,000.
The story of James has a tragic ending, however. In 2007, a number of high profile companies fell victim to a massive wave of malicious network attacks. Even though James denied any involvement, he was suspected and investigated. In 2008, James committed
suicide, believing he would be convicted of crimes that he did not commit.
2.  Kevin Mitnick
Kevin Mitnick’s journey as a computer hacker has been so interesting and compelling that the U.S. Department of Justice called him the “most wanted computer criminal in U.S. history.” His
story is so wild that it was the basis for two featured films.
What did he do? After serving a year in prison for hacking into the Digital
Equipment Corporation’s network, he
was let out for 3 years of supervised
release. Near the end of that period,
however, he fled and went on a 2.5-year hacking spree that involved breaching the national defense warning system and stealing corporate secrets.
Mitnick was eventually caught and
convicted, ending with a 5-year prison sentence. After serving those years fully, he became a consultant and public speaker for computer security. He now runs Mitnick Security Consulting, LLC.
3.  Albert Gonzalez
Albert Gonzalez paved his way to
Internet fame when he collected over 170 million credit card and ATM card numbers over a period of 2 years. Yep. That’s equal to a little over half the population of the United States. Gonzalez started off as the leader of a hacker group known as ShadowCrew.
This group would go on to steal 1.5
million credit card numbers and sell
them online for profit. ShadowCrew also fabricated fraudulent passports, health insurance cards, and birth certificates for identity theft crimes totaling $4.3 million stolen.
The big bucks wouldn’t come until later, when Gonzalez hacked into the
databases of TJX Companies and
Heartland Payment Systems for their stored credit card numbers. In 2010, Gonzalez was sentenced to prison for 20 years (2 sentences of 20 years to be served out simultaneously).
4. Kevin Poulsen
Kevin Poulsen, also known as“Dark
Dante,” gained his fifteen minutes
of fame by utilizing his intricate knowledge of telephone systems. At one point, he hacked aradio station’s phone lines and fixed himself as the winning caller, earning him a brand new Porsche. According to media, he was called the “Hannibal
Lecter of computer crime.”
He then earned his way onto the FBI’s wanted list when he hacked into federal systems and stole wiretap information.
Funny enough, he was later captured in a supermarket and sentenced to 51 months in prison, as well paying
$56,000 in restitution.
Like Kevin Mitnick, Poulsen changed his ways after being released from prison. He began working as a journalist and is now a senior editor for Wired News. At one point, he even helped law enforcement to identify 744 sex offenders on MySpace.
5.  Gary McKinnon
Gary McKinnon was known by his Internet handle, “Solo.” Using that
name, he coordinated what would
become the largest
military computer hack of all time. The allegations are that he, over a 13-month period from February 2001 to March 2002, illegally gained access to 97 computers belonging to the U.S. Armed Forces and NASA.
McKinnon claimed that he was only
searching for information related to free energy suppression and UFO activity cover-ups. But according to U.S. authorities, he deleted a number of critical files, rendering over 300
computers inoperable and resulting in over $700,000 in damages.
Being of Scottish descent and operating out of the United Kingdom, McKinnon was able to dodge the American government for a time. As of today, he continues to fight against extradition to
the United States.
So guys we hope that you enjoyed reading about these worlds top 5 hackers of all time..
             !!.Thank You Guys.!!

Crazy!!! Hacker Implants NFC Chip In His Hand To Hack Android Phones News

in: Brilliant Hackers cyberattck Security Breakers updatenews
There is a very sleek line between hacking and security. The security used to protect the public could be misused by hackers against the public itself, and one shouldn’t forget that with the advance in technology, the techniques used by cyber criminals also improves.

Today, What hackers need to conduct a successful cyber attack?

Maybe just a computing device injected under the skin of their bodies, who can bear the pain, would be enough to help complete a successful cyber attack – also known as Biohacking.

This was exactly what presented by the former U.S. Navy petty officer and now engineer at APA Wireless Seth Wahle.

With no malicious intention, Wahle implanted a small NFC chip in his left hand right between his thumb and his pointer finger in order to display the risks of Biohacking.

Hacking Android devices using NFC implants:

For those unaware, NFC (Near Field Communications) chips embedded in our smartphone devices are used for transferring files and in various mobile payment applications.

Wahle's chip has an NFC antenna that is capable to hack Android devices and bypass almost all security measures. The chip can ping a nearby Android smartphone, prompting its user to open a link.

Once the user of the smartphone agrees to open that link, the link installs a malicious piece of software on the phone that allows the phone to connect to a remote computer controlled by the hacker.

The hacker would now be able to carry out further exploits on the victim's device, potentially putting all the important information and sensitive data of victim at risk.

How is NFC implant done?

In order to implant the NFC device, Wahle bought a chip designed to be injected into cattle and implanted the chip by an "unlicensed amateur" for $40 by using a needle which was larger than he had initially expected, Wahle told Forbes during a Skype call.

The worst part about NFC implant:

The chip implant into Wahle hand was almost invisible after few days. The major thing to worry about this technique is that the NFC chip goes completely undetected in almost all kinds of security measures, including the security checkpoints in airports and other high-security locations.

Wahle said that with the chip implanted in himself, he went through daily scans prior to leaving the military and the chip was never detected. But, he also notes that the X-rays would be able to detect the chip.

However, these Implantable NFC chips potentially open up a smart way for hackers to hack Android devices and networks and gain access to victims' sensitive information.
"This implanted chip can bypass pretty much any security measures that are in place at this point and we will show proof of that," said Rod Soto, the event’s secretary of the board and security consultant.
Limitations of the attacks:

There are some limitations to methods like this, as Wahle says that the remote connection made by a hacker to the server can only be kept if the affected Android device is not locked or rebooted.

However, these limitations could be overcome by various means. Like if, say, the affected phone is rebooted, a software run as a background service that starts on boot would fix the problem.

Wahle will be presenting his finding at the Hack Miami conference taking place this May, with Rod Soto. Both of them intended to alert about these latest strategies that can be used by hackers to hack terminals and networks.

They also admitted that this NFC implant-based attack could provide hackers and cyber criminals with a particularly useful "tool in their social engineering toolset."
